It’s important to maintain a good level of nutrition if you’re hoping to lead a more healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical activity, your diet can help you stay in shape, reduce your risk of chronic diseases and improve your overall health.
If you live a busy life (which I’m sure most of you do!) then it may feel like you don’t have the time to improve your food choices. However, with meal prepping you can begin choosing healthy alternatives for your daily meals and avoid unhealthy eating on the go.
To get you started, here are some of my personal tips for meal preparation.
Keep it simple in the beginning so you don’t get overwhelmed
Transforming your lifestyle will not take place overnight. It’s important that you are patient and slowly introduce any changes to your routine. Start off with something simple like preparing your meals for tomorrow and then move onto three/four meals when you are more competent.
Pick a day to make all your meals for the week
When you’ve started to get into the swing of meal prepping, you should then decide on a day each week to prepare all your meals. Sunday is the most popular day as people tend to be off work and are looking ahead to the upcoming week.
Plan out your meals
Decide which meals you are going to make (perhaps just do lunch and snacks for the first week) and then make yourself a grocery list. Purchasing all the necessary ingredients will help save time and ensure your meals are healthy and tasty.
Use meal prep containers
Get yourself some nice containers to store your food in, I recommend these. Not only does it help to have a compact, reusable container to keep in your bag at all times, but it also keeps your food air tight and fresh.
